What is LGA 1155 CPU(Socket H2)?
LGA 1155
LGA stands for Land Grid Array – It means it is a chip with a lot of very high-density contacts which is flat on the bottom(source). These flat contacts make a connection with the motherboard when it touches the contacts in the socket.
LGA 1115 or Socket H2 is an upgrade to LGA 1156(know as socket H (source 1)). As the name suggests this processor has 1155 pins that make contacts with the LGA 1155 socket in the motherboard.
LGA 1115 started to bring the ‘secure boot’ option to make sure that the PC only boots up to software by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) when the PC boots up to prevent malicious code execution during the PC boot up(source).
